Born to an Iranian father and Spanish mother Shahi's mixed lineage allowed her to expand her horizons beyond the boundaries of religion and geography. Maxim voted her one of The Hottest Females of Fall Television in 2008. Callies made the move to New York City in 2003 shortly after which she was offered her first role on TV. She portrayed Kate O'Malley on Queens Supreme. Her first starring role was in the role of the detective Jane Porter on The WB's Tarzan.
