Anna Leigh Ashford

Annaleigh Amanda Ashford (born April 14th 1988) is an American actress, singer, and dancer. She started her Broadway career with musicals like Wicked, Legally Blonde and Hair. As the character Essie as Essie in You Can't Take It With You she received the Tony Award. Annaleigh Ashford Tony Award winner actor has worked with a variety of famous directors and actors on stage and screen. Ashford continues to build on her award-winning career by working on new projects. Ashford in the near future will play opposite Kumail Robert Siegel's Hulu exclusive series Welcome to Chippendales which premieres the 22nd of November. Ashford currently works in Searchlight Pictures' horror thriller Dust opposite Sarah Paulson, Ebon Moss Bachrach and Ebon Mosch-Bachrach. The film is scheduled to stream through Disney's DTC platforms, as well as Hulu Original. Ashford's Broadway return is scheduled to take place on March 20, 2023. He stars opposite Josh Groban for the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre revival of Stephensondheim's Sweeney Todd. This production will be led by Thomas Kail and produced by Jeffrey Seller, the team who created Hamilton. Ashford's latest role was as Paula Jones on Ryan Murphy FX's American Crime Story Impeachment. The show is based on the nationwide scandal that involved Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky, as well as Linda Tripp. Two seasons ago, Ashford was a star of the hit show on CBS called B Positive. It was created by Marco Pennette Chuck Lorre with the legendary Linda Lavin Hector Elizondo Ben Vereen. Ashford, who is not familiar with Broadway was awarded both Tony Drama Desk Awards as well as Outer Critics Circle Awards in the role of Essie. Additional Broadway performances are Sunday in the Park with George Wicked Legally Blonde and her first role as Lauren in Kinky Boots a performance for which she received another Tony Award nomination. She was born and grew up in Denver Ashford is now dividing her days between Los Angeles and New York.
